Tiwa Savage's Biography

Tiwatope Savage, known under the stage name Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter. She is currently signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Mavin Records. She co-wrote the track "Collard greens and Cornbread" on Fantasia Barrino’s Grammy-nominated album Back to Me.[1][2] Savage is signed to SONY USA Record Label.

Tiwa Savage was born and bred in Lagos, Nigeria.She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2007 and since then have been working in the music industryTiwa began her music in the UK touring as a background singer for artists such as Mary J. Blige, Sting, George Michael, Kelly Clarkson and Spice Girls. She participated in the X-Factor, reaching the top 24.
Savage wrote Jaicko’s “Oh Yeah,” Kat Deluna’s “Push Push”, Fantasia’s “Collard Greens & Cornbread,” and performed background vocal credit on Whitney Houston’s album I Look to You.
She featured in a song called "Oyi by Flavour.".

Tiwa Savage owns her own record label, 323 Music Entertainment, with partner TJ. She is currently[when?] working on her upcoming album under Mavin Records. Although Savage has not yet set a specific release date for the album, she has released the singles Love Me (3x) and Kele Kele Love, which are both sung partly in English and Yoruba, her native language.On February 5th 2013, Tiwa Savage got engaged to her long time business partner Tee Billz.


This soulful diva burst onto the African scene in 2010 with the strength of a gale force wind. Her chart-topping debut single, ‘Kele-Kele Love’ quickly captured the public’s imagination in a manner not quite seen before. Ms.Savage’s sultry tones, pulsating dance moves and electric stage presence quickly saw her rise to the top of the industry. Numerous accolades were to follow including a City People Entertainment Award for ‘Female Musician of the Year’ in 2011, ‘Best R&B Soul Song’ for Kele Kele Love at the Afrotainment Museke Online Music Awards, ‘Most Stylish Female Artiste’ at the FAB Magazine Awards and ‘Most Promising Act’ at the Dynamix Youth Awards. Ms. Savage was nominated for more awards following the success of her second single ‘Love Me 3x’ including ‘Most Gifted Female Video’ at the Channel O Music Awards, Female Musician of the Year and Song of the year for ‘Love me 3x’ at the TUSH Youth Awards and ‘Next Rated’ at the 2011 Hip-Hop World Awards.
The First Lady of Mavin is sitting on the cusp of a rainbow and has recently signed a historical multi-million naira deal to become the face of Pepsi, the first African to do so. “O ma ga,” her single off the Solar Plexus is already a crowd favourite. With a debut album earmarked for 2012 release, the beautiful songstress is on an upward trajectory that shows no signs of leveling out.
